I help small businesses create beautiful brand stories
ep creative design studio was founded by Kalyn Johnson Chandler in 2012 as a result of the positive reception her retail stationery products received. People saw her unique designs on the internet, or received one of the notecards she designed from a friend, and began picking up the phone to request she create something unique just for them.
Over the past three years, Kalyn has worked with a number of small businesses and non-profits on building their brand identities – logos, website design, business cards, social media feeds, you name it! She has created private label product for both small and large businesses alike. Kalyn has also worked with clients to create everything from bespoke wedding invitations, milestone birthday party invites, graduation announcements, to custom stationery and then some. With all of her projects, large or small, Kalyn works to create visuals and paper products that will excite and entice.
The beauty is in Kalyn’s special attention to detail. Our creative design services will add personal touches to everything from your trade show booth to the Save-the-Date cards for your fabulous wedding in St. Barth’s to the cocktail napkins used at your next soirée. Stylish people really do have stylish paper. Let our team help insure that your paper is as stylish as you are and that every bit of your paper suite – from your social notecards to your company’s manilla folders—makes your heart leap!
My name is Kalyn and among other things, I’m the founder and creative director of Effie’s Paper. People often ask,”Who is Kalyn?” because my name is not associated with my company. So, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I am a lawyer turned fashion stylist turned stationer/graphic designer (and sous chef to my husband when he lets me in the kitchen!). I’ve had a love affair with stationery and paper products since I was a little girl. Call me old-fashioned, but there’s something about opening my mailbox and finding a handwritten note, thank you or otherwise, that trumps an email or text message any day of the week.
My weaknesses are costume jewelry, pretty stationery, French fries, Hermes scarves, sequins, the color purple and metallics. I love a little touch of glam! And, I love to laugh (little secret-everyone looks better when they smile). Oh yes, and I’m all about having great stationery to pen thank you notes, love notes and just because notes to friends and family. I’ve got a great team of young ladies who help keep me on the straight and narrow – I LOVE my girls! And, last but not least, I am one of the co-authors of The BAP HANDBOOK – The Official Guide to the Black American Princess.
Who’s Effie? Effie was my maternal grandmother who believed a lady should have the perfect shade of red lipstick, write a wicked thank you note and always carry a hanky in her pocketbook.
